Directions

Arlunfa is located near the village of Penmon on the Isle of Anglesey, approximately 3m north-east of Beaumaris (see map). Although it is possible to get around using local transport (the bus stop is right outside the house), a car does make life a lot easier. One option might be to travel to Bangor by train and hire a car locally.

Car

Drive onto Anglesey using the Britannia Bridge (the A55 for the Holyhead ferry). Just as you are leaving the bridge turn left for Menai Bridge and Beaumaris. Follow signs for Menai Bridge. If you look to your right after a short while, you will see the other suspension bridge connecting the main land to Anglesey. Often worth a photo - there are a couple of viewpoints with parking.

Come through the small town of Menai Bridge following signs for Beaumaris. You will drive along a winding road through woods with the sea on your right. In a few minutes you reach the pretty seaside town of Beumaris. Keep on going through the town. The castle will be on your left as you leave town. After another two miles or so turn right for Penmon. (If you reach the village of Llangoed you have gone too far.) Keep driving for another few minutes, through some beech woods and past The Pines Residential Park on your right. You will reach a bend in the road signposted “Penmon Priory” with a bus stop on the left. Directly opposite as you approach this bend is Arlunfa. You will see a white picket fence through the gateway. Welcome.

Train

The nearest train station is Bangor (Gwynedd). Unfortunately buses to Beaumaris and Penmon are rather infrequent, so check the local bus timetable to make sure you have a connecting service. If you do catch a bus to Penmon, take it all the way to the terminal stop (ask the driver when to get off) and you will find yourself right outside Arlunfa. A taxi ride to Arlunfa from the station is about £25. From Beaumaris, a taxi is about £10.
